As a writer and blogger, it is very rewarding to find out that people are reading what you write and enjoying it. My biggest goal in blogging is to share my experiences with people. I recently was nominated by asprinkleofeverything.com for the Sunshine Blogger Award. The Sunshine Blogger Award is given to bloggers who are creative, positive and inspiring. This award lets me know that people are enjoying my blog. I would like to thank A Sprinkle of Everything for nominating me for this award.
How long have you been blogging?
I have been blogging for almost five years now. I began blogging in August 2012 when my twin daughters were born.
Why did you start blogging?
I started blogging to share what was happening in the NICU with my twin girls. From there my blog became a place for me to share my story with others.
What has been the hardest part of being a blogger?
The hardest part of being a blogger has been the transition from writing for my family to building a bigger audience. When I decided to make this blog more than for my family, I struggled with driving traffic and reaching the correct audience. This was a battle I struggled for a long time and am still learning how to drive traffic.
Tell us about where you are from.
I am a Texas girl. I have lived all over the state and currently live in West Texas. I have lived in this state my entire life and could not imagine living anywhere else.
Do you have any pets?
I do have a beloved family pet. We have an eleven-year-old Shih Tzu that I adopted when I was in college. She was my first baby before I had my babies. Maggie, our Shih Tzu, is cherished by everyone in our home.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
This is a little harder to say. I am a stay at home mom of three children, therefore, spare time is not something I get very often. On those rare occasions that I have spare time to do what I want, besides writing; I read books. I love to sit with a cup of coffee or hot tea and read a few chapters in a book. Sadly it has been a few months since I have sat down with a book to read.
If money was no object, where would you like to travel?
I would like to travel to Europe. My top places would be Italy, France, and Great Britain. I still hope to travel to those places someday.
How many blogs do you currently read regularly?
I must confess that I am a bit of a blog junkie. I follow a lot of different blogs through email, on Facebook, and Instagram. I read close to ten blog posts or more a day.
What do you do for a living?
I taught for four years before becoming a stay at home mom to my twin girls. I have been home with them for five years now and have added our baby boy to the group. It has been a huge adjustment for me to stay home with them but I have loved it, most of the time. 😉 I am also an entrepreneur with a few small businesses.
I am a Young Living Independent Distributor and business builder. I teach people about the benefits of using essential oils. I also support and train people who are interested in becoming business builders from home through Young Living.
I also have an Etsy shop called Hale Yes Designs where I design personalized items for people. I am branching out from the vinyl applications to powder coating products in the near future.
Do you have any siblings?
I was raised in a blended family. My parents divorced when I was young and both have remarried. Each of their spouses had children from previous marriages and grew my family. In my blended family, I have four brothers, four sisters, two brothers-in-law, and one sister-in-law. I will not refer to my siblings as steps or half siblings because they have been a part of my life since I was a small child, some almost 30 years. The bond between us is stronger than the label of half or step. We are all very close and have a strong relationship.
