Complete the mazes from Lessons 15-19 for review work.

‘ET’ Word Puzzles from Reading the Alphabet

This week we are going to build picture puzzles together to spell out words with the ‘ot’ ending sounds.

Pocket Chart ‘ET’ Match from Reading the Alphabet

For this activity we will need a pocket chart. We are going to build words with the OT family cards from Reading the Alphabet. Then we will match those words with the correct picture.

Bottle Cap ‘ET’ Mat from Reading the Alphabet

For this activity we will put a letter bottle cap on the empty circle of the words to spell out the word that matches the picture. There are blank circles on some of the pages to allow children to spell the entire word.

We are going to read and re-read the book from Reading the Alphabet today.

Pocket Chart ‘ET’ Match from Reading the Alphabet

For this activity we will need a pocket chart. We are going to build words with the OT family cards from Reading the Alphabet. Then we will match those words with the correct picture.

Build A Word Sight Word from Reading the Alphabet

For this activity we will use a cookie sheet to spell words with magnetic letters. Then we will use letter stamps to stamp out the sight words on paper. We will then glue the sight words beside our stamped words.

Sight Word Wall

Today we will review all of our sight words on the sight word wall.

Writing

Monday

Today we are using our Learn the alphabet workbook and Manuscript Writing for the letter review. The girls are writing the letter review and identifying letters in it on page 26-28 in the Learning the alphabet workbook. In our Manuscript Writing page we are completing the letter review on page 31.

*I have them work in the workbooks during this time because it allows me time to transition and take care of their brother.

Wednesday

Today we are practicing writing the et word families on their handwriting paper.

Writing story: This week’s story will be about what we saw on our nature walk.

Friday

Today the girls will be doing the Print Awareness from Reading the Alphabet. For this activity they will need to trace the picture and letter. Then they will help me cut out the sentences and mix up the words. They then will help me reassemble the sentences so that they read correctly. We will glue them onto a piece of paper.

Trace the Letters Q, J, V, W, E from Reading the Alphabet

Roll and Stamp Letter Review Activity from Reading the Alphabet

Roll the cube. The child names the letter and makes the letter sound. The child uses the graph to chart the results.

Letter Picture Cards from Reading the Alphabet

For this activity, the girls will sort the beginning sounds with letters and pictures. Then they will place the cards into the pocket chart with the letter book pocket chart versions.

20 Grid from Reading the Alphabet

For this math activity, they will roll a die, then count the number rolled. Place that number of small objects on the board, starting at the top left and continuing until the board is full.

Letter ET Coloring Page from Reading the Alphabet

Today they will color the pictures that start with this letter.

Roll A Rhyme from Reading the Alphabet

Insert into education cube. Players take turns rolling the two dice. They look at the pictures on the dice and tell whether or not they rhyme.

Initial Picture Sort from Reading the Alphabet

Place the letter cards at the top of your pocket chart. Shuffle the initial picture cards. Go through each picture naming the object like this “/b/ /b/ balloon. Child needs to identify the beginning sounds

Numbers 1 – 10 Dot Page from Reading the Alphabet

This activity needs to start with shuffling the number cards. The child picks a card and turns it over, identifying what the number is. Then they find that same number on their dot page and cover it up with an object. Continue until all the numbers have been identified.

Sight word search

Today we are going to find all of this week’s sight word, see, in a word search and circle it with our favorite marker.

Tracer Page

For this page, we are going to trace the sight word on this page from lessons 15-19.

Sight word wall

Read the sight words on the wall using the pointer. I have included other words that they recognize such as our family members names and pets names.

Pattern Cards

For this activity we are going to use the picture cards to create picture patterns. These picture cards match our letter this week, p. Your child can cut the pictures out with you or you can do it ahead of time to save time (which is what I did).

This week we are continuing with our measurement unit.

Monday

For today’s lesson, we are going to measure more or less. We are going to introduce the term more today and focus on seeing which group has more when comparing two groups of items.

science

This week we are going to do the Shaving Cream Rain Clouds from One Little Project.

 

Materials:

Glass vases

food coloring

shaving cream

small bowls

water

Eye dropper

 

Directions:

  1. Fill small containers with water.
  2. Add different colors to small containers.
  3. Fill a clear glass vase 2/3 full of water.
  4. Top with a large amount of shaving cream.
  5. Use the eye dropper to drop food coloring water on to the sides of the large vase.
  6. Document in the science folder.

 

Role Play

This week let them have independent role play and pretend to be whatever they would like.

 

social studies

This week’s theme is nature. We are going to go on a nature walk today. As we spend our time on the nature walk, we are going to gather some things for our art project. We are also going to talk about the things we see.
Art

This week’s art craft is DIY Paint brush painting.

Materials:

items from nature walk

paint

white paper

 

Directions:

Paint a picture using the items found on the nature walk.

Let art work dry.
