We have had so much fun these past three weeks with elf Belle in our home.
Message from Santa
“Just in…A Message from SANTA!!!”
All three kids received a message from Santa. I made the messages from Portable North Pole.
Hanging with Cards
“I love all of these Christmas cards. I’m going to read who they are all from today.”
They found elf Belle hanging in our Christmas cards. This made the girls want to stop and look at the cards we had received this year.
“I want to play a new game today. I have planned a scavenger hunt for you to play.”
Clue #1: It’s cold outside! The next clue is somewhere cold too. (Refrigerator)
Clue #2: Great job finding this clue! The next clue is somewhere much warmer. It’s somewhere that has something you love to snuggle up with. (Book shelf with blankets)
Clue #3: You are getting warmer. The next clue is found somewhere you love to play all day. (playroom)
Clue #4: In this spot you will find a treat. Look somewhere you like to eat. (Dining room table with candy canes for each of them).
“Santa is coming in a few days. Will you make some reindeer food for Rudolph and all his friends? You can try some too.”
I found this chex mix recipe on Pinterest called Reindeer Chow. I modified the directions a little to make it easier for us. Enjoy! We sure did.
6 cups Rice or Corn Chex cereal
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 cup powdered sugar
3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 – 2 cups miniature marshmallows
1 – 2 cups Whoppers
1 -2 cups salted mini pretzels
1 bag Red and Green M&M’s
Pour cereal in a large bowl and set aside.
Melt chocolate chips and peanut butter together either in the microwave or stove-top and stir until smooth.
Pour mixture over cereal and gently fold until coated.
In a small bowl, mix the powdered sugar and cocoa powder together, until mixed well.
Dump powdered sugar into a large plastic bag and add cereal mixture and shake until covered. Pour onto a cookie sheet to let cool.
Mix in marshmallows, Whoppers, pretzels, M&M’s and enjoy!
We left before Christmas eve so Belle’s goodbye letter was left out the morning we left. She told the children that she was going to miss them and hoped that they enjoyed her stay as much as she did. She thanked them for letting her visit and reminded them that she would be leaving again Christmas eve while we were gone. Santa lifted his Christmas magic one time to allow all three of them to hug her goodbye and tell her that they would see her again next year. This only works now because Santa would be picking her up when he came to our house Christmas Eve!
Until next year with Belle.
