Book Challenge #4: Budget/Financial

Budget/Financial: The Minimalist Budget by Simeon Lindstrom

I chose The Minimalist Budget by Simeon Lindstrom because I am always looking for a way to save money and the reviews seemed good. I was still a bit apprehensive when I chose this book because I was afraid of the book telling me to extremely cut things out of my budget. To my surprise this book is nothing like that.

The first few chapters are about your needs and values in life and your budget. The author asks questions and gives examples to help the reader decide and think about your budget.

As the book continues, the author discusses ways to start trimming your budget. He challenges the reader to look at expenses in food, clothing, health, home and cleaning, children, debt and finances, etc… He tells you to prioritize your expenses.

The book shares people’s stories and how they overcome them. This was helpful because it gives you something to relate to. The last few chapters help the reader take the steps into minimizing their budget.

I am glad I read this book. It made me start prioritizing my expenses. I’m hoping to have my budget altered over the next few months.

I would recommend this book to anyone trying to cut their budget. I have included a direct link to Amazon for purchase above and here: The Minimalist Budget.

I gave this book 5 out of 5 stars.

Stay tuned for my next book challenge review of the short story, Where There’s Smoke by Jodi Picoult.
