Brooke started her doc band this month. Bailey had her measurements for her second doc band this month. They told us that we should be able to start coming every two weeks instead of every week. This will be a huge change for me. The trips are long and tiring for me and the girls. We spent a week this month in Houston with my family and friends. It was so nice to be back in Houston for a short while.

Making Progress With The Doc Band

We went to Dallas yesterday. Brooke had to redo her pictures to get an accurate measurement for her doc band. They have now started making the band and we will pick it up on March 28. At that appt. she will have to wear the band for three hours and they will make any adjustments needed at that time. We will then return in a week for a follow up.

Bailey had her appointment yesterday as well. Her growing rate has slowed down so her head size was the same as the previous week. Her head shape will continue to change her head circumference is not getting larger each week as it has been before. So when they told me that, I asked if we could start her adjustments at two weeks. The therapist said that it was perfect timing to move to two week appts. So Bailey only needs to visit Dallas twice a month.

I am hoping that Brooke will be the same because she shouldn’t be growing as fast either. That will certainly make my life easier and theirs too because they do not like the long drives. We are still looking at three months more of treatment. Possibly more for Bailey depending on her progress over the next few months.

Doc Band Appointments and Physical Therapy

We had Bailey's physical therapy appointment on Monday. Her therapist has dropped two of her stretches, leaving the side stretch. She wants us doing this one more because it causes
Bailey to hold her neck up straighter when we finish. She is continuing to make progress with

the therapy. It's slow but she is doing good.

We went to Dallas yesterday for her adjustments. She is continuing to make

progress with her doc band. Her head is rounding out nicely. We still have a
while and possibly a second band before she is completely finished.

While we were in Dallas, we had Brooke evaluated. We have had multiple people mention
to watch her just in case. Well, Brooke has Bracheocephaly. This is where the length
and width of her head are not proportioned with each other. The back of her
head is flatter and long gated. The measurements came back a little while ago
and she qualifies in the moderate portion for the band. So, we will go on
Tuesday for their check up with the pediatrician and request a prescription for
treatment. I am revising my Bailey letter for the insurance. I am hoping that
Brooke can get measured for her band at Bailey's next appointment and receive
hers the following week. She is not as severe as Bailey was so I am hoping that
they will finish treatment around the same time. But as for now it looks like
both girls will be treated. They told me that it is very common for twins to
have positional issues like this. And in most cases one has Plagiocephaly
(Bailey) and the other has Bracheocephaly (Brooke).

The girls are starting to babble more and move around more. They love to lay in their activity center. The girls both play in an exersaucer and jumper. Brooke will jump for long periods of time. Her little leg muscles are so strong. We have been driving to Dallas every week for a month now. I have made two trips by myself with the girls. It takes an entire day and I am exhausted by the time I make it home. All I can think about each trip is that this is for my baby girl. We have been thinking about having Brooke evaluated for a Doc Band. They told us that in many cases, both twins will have a positional issue. We would rather know and get her started with her treatment then find out she needed a Doc Band when it was too late.
